Automating Financial Close with RPA

The challenge

The bank's finance team spent 8 days each month manually reconciling accounts, consolidating data from 6 core systems, and generating regulatory reports. The process required 12 staff working overtime and was prone to errors that required audit remediation.

The solution

We implemented UiPath bots to automate 14 discrete financial close processes. Each bot connects to core banking, ERP, and reporting systems via APIs and screen automation, performs validation rules, flags exceptions for human review, and generates audit-ready outputs. The implementation included an RPA Center of Excellence with governance processes for ongoing bot development.

Outcomes

Month-end close now completes in 36 hours—a 78% reduction. Manual data entry errors have been eliminated entirely. The finance team reclaimed 340 FTE hours monthly, redirecting that capacity to analysis and business partnering rather than data wrangling.
